Initial Meeting
The initial meeting is a conversation by phone, text, email, or in person meet up designed to help you get clear on your next step in flight training. We’ll talk through your goals, expectations, and what training with me looks like. I’ll ask questions based on your goals and use my experience and knowledge of the aviation industry to provide guidance and help you make the right decision.
Discovery Flight
A discovery flight is an introductory experience for anyone curious about learning to fly. During the flight, you will learn how to preflight the aircraft, control the airplane on the ground and perform basic flight maneuvers in the air. This experience offers a realistic look at what being a pilot is like. Discovery flights typically range in cost from $200 to $250, depending flight time.
Private Pilot
The Private Pilot Certificate is the foundation of flight training and allows pilots to fly for personal and recreational purposes. Training begins with developing fundamentals through maneuvers designed to teach aircraft control and coordination. After completing all FAA requirements, you will earn your Private Pilot Certificate and begin flying on your own with confidence.
Instrument Rating
Weather is not always bright and sunny. Getting your instrument rating allows pilots to operate in the clouds and reduced visibility. Training begins by learning to control the aircraft using only flight instruments, focusing on proper instrument scanning patterns. After completing all FAA training requirements, you will earn your Instrument Rating, providing greater flexibility when flying in a wider range of weather conditions.
Commercial Pilot
The Commercial Pilot Certificate allows pilots to be compensated for flying. Training focuses on building experience while refining skills to meet a higher standard of knowledge and performance. Upon completion of all FAA training requirements, you will earn your Commercial Pilot Certificate and be eligible to pursue paid flying opportunities.
Flight Instructor
The Certified Flight Instructor certificate (CFI) allows pilots to teach others how to fly. Training covers effective teaching techniques, lesson planning, and the transition to the right seat, where you will practice instructing maneuvers already mastered during your private and commercial training. Upon completion of all FAA training requirements, you will earn your CFI certificate and be qualified to provide flight instruction while continuing to build experience.
Flight Review
Flight Reviews and Instrument Proficiency Checks are FAA required evaluations designed to maintain pilot proficiency and safety. A Flight Review is required every 24 calendar months to act as pilot in command, and an Instrument Proficiency Check is required to restore IFR privileges when instrument currency has lapsed. Each session is tailored to the pilot’s experience, aircraft, and areas needing review.
